Practice Description:

Mr. Kotrlík, one of the founding members of KBA, has more than twenty years of legal practice during which he has been involved in a wide variety of high profile corporate transactions including acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate financings and restructurings.

He is also focused on dispute resolution and has participated in several international arbitrations advising major Czech and international corporations and institutions. Most recently, Mr. Kotrlík represented the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and three other defending shareholders in an international arbitration in London under the UNCITRAL rules regarding the ownership of KORADO, a.s., a major European producer of radiators. He acted as a lead counsel on all matters of Czech law, the substantive law of the dispute. Dr. Kotrlík has also advised companies controlled by CME Ltd. in connection with a variety of litigation and international arbitration matters involving disputes regarding TV Nova, a major Czech private TV station; in connection with this matter, he was a member of the legal team in the arbitration proceedings brought under the protection of investment treaties between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic and the USA. He advised CME Ltd. in connection with its USD 53 million sale of its Czech TV business and re-acquisition of TV Nova in a transaction valued at USD 900 million in cash and stock, the largest ever private investment by a US company in the Czech Republic.
